Artist Statement

Dennis Evans is a multimedia artist, working in oil on wax and encaustic with mixed media. His artwork is included in many major museum and public corporation collections, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. 

“I think of my paintings as large wax manuscript pages. Some images are illusionary and some are actual objects.” - Dennis Evans

The Neo Vatikan Press

Seattle, March 1 2015: 

Today the Neo Vatikan Press announced the publication date of their latest Artists Book, Dark Matter. On July 1, 2015 the book will be available. It will be a limited edition of 50 books signed and numbered by the artist Dennis Evans and writer Carmine Chickadel. Completing the design and production team are Marianne Sao, text and digital design, and Sheila Coppolla, of Sidereal Press who will print the book. 

This year marks the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of the Neo Vatikan Press, and their sixth release.  The Press was founded in 1990 by Dennis Evans and Carmine Chickadel to produce collaborative work using letterpress and hand made bindings for unique and collectable publications in limited numbers. Their other books are: The Seven Deadly Sins (1990), The Seven Cardinal Virtues (1992), Thaumaturgy (1994), Voices (1995) and The Book Of Days (2000)

The award winning books are in museum, corporate and private collections, as well as library rare book and special collections. Institutional owners include Microsoft, Davis, Wright, Tremain LLP, University of Delaware rare books collection, the Museum of the University of Montana and School of Fine Arts collection, University of Washington’s Allen Library, Seattle Art Museum and many others.
